Utter Nonsense ...

Quit misreading my posts, I did not and never would condone violence or terrorist agenda, I simply stated fact in regards to your country being backward and a socialist example of misuse of resources.

As you obviously have no idea about our country my banter with you shall end. This is like talking to a stump in the Washington burbs. You really need to do a little studying about other nations and stop hiding in Columbian jungles

For your edification considering you are an illiterate, Colombia is spelled with an "O" as in Colombia. Sorry to dissapont you mate, but I live in a palacial estate in a private condominium that I'm confident you could not afford (considering the low wage structure of the frozen North) and the backward government attempt at socialism.

Just to clarify my position in regards to Canada, I owned a company in Calgary, started another company on the Vancouver Stock Exchange in 1984, lived in Vancouver for a year, (could never understand "fiddle head ferns" though). Learned to appreciate the beauty of Canada and at the same time learn what a coterie of idiots were running the country.

Does the west coast of America count as "the other side of the pond"? Seems like either way you go you have to cross a big ocean and a giant landmass.
A direct flight would take you over a small part of the Atlantic, Greenland & a lot of Canada.

If by "either way", you mean crossing Asia, that would make no sense, if you know where London & Seattle are located on this map:

Here is a view of the flight path:

And where the business are, the merchant goes ... simple as that .. and while Seattle is not exactly Silicone Valley, its at least close enough ....
flashbacks to SNL, steve martin, dan akroid and the skit about 'foxes with big american breasts'.

(its not 'silicone' valley. that would actually be closer to hollywood, I reckon)

But one thing us Americans can all agree on is that England and technology just don't mix. Talk about out of it...waaaay out. Sure London is a financial center and the next time I want to buy a credit default swap from the vampires at Goldman I shall do so thru my Swiss bank account so as to avoid all taxes...just the same reason so many toid (sic) World toffs exist in said city.

But how can anone in the technology field take anything seriously from a country that clearly drives on the wrong side of the road...Quick now look right...Some of us remember the British technology that won the Falklands War and laugh out loud each and every time....So take that and tell the Queen I said so..........

Sorry old boy...but no oune knows what the pound even is any more. It is an irrelevant currency that carries weight only with Nigerian oils barons who stash cash at Tramps. London hasn't done anything with technology since it tried to claim credit for inventing the steam engine...A decline is long and slow but DP's smart move is but another nail (hand drawn if its English?) in the tin coffin. Relax Scotland still has bangers and beans and being DFL in the technology race isn't so bad...you won't be able to be early adaters and think of all the money you will save.............Be a good loser sport please.....please please...And learn the words to the American National Anthem....the one true anthem ... A stiff upper lip int he face of adversity is what keeps us Yanks smiling while communist China makes the aluminum for our fighter jets...Take a lesson from us.....

After the amazon take-over, I would've thought to see DPReview to be able to expand their userbase to a large part of the non english speaking nations of Europe (still the largest camera-market in the wordl!) with editors from France, Germany, Spain, Italy, etc. turning it into must-visit website for millions of non-english speaking photographers as well...

But it seems that your new strategy is completely the opposite, focussing on (or should I say retreating to?) the US market instead of trying to expand the userbase elsewhere...

With the current economic situation being as it is, I have doubts that this is a solid strategy in the long term... but then, it's getting quite clear that it's no longer the DPReview staff calling the shots, but the owners in Seattle... realy sad ;-(
non English speaking nation - To quote George Bernhard Shaw ... In Ameika it hasn't been heard for years So DPR is doing exactly what you suggest (well not quite, it is not exactly Europe ...)

great britain (britania magna and britania inferia) the British isles were geographic areas First used by the romans....

i totally agree and if you had read my posts i say i AM English as for historical links with scotland and wales also ireland i havent spouted on their behalf as i only claimed i was English (British by citizenship) and not EUOROPEAN and IF you were to go talk to the people of England MOST would be glad to be rid of the MASSIVE subsidies we pay the other 3 countrys too..
oh and by the way

ireland was given to the Norman king by the Pope about 1350..wales was taken by force and Scotish kings acctually took hold of the English throne in 1604 not the other way round

and as for the republic taking the SIX countys most real Irish i know dont want then cos they know how much troble there would be
You need to study a bit on your history. Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are not part of Great Britain by choice. Your country is England. Great Britain is a group of 4 countries 3 of whom are forced. Go talk to a Scot or Welshman to get their stories and stop spouting on their behalf. You have few supporters in the North and the Republic will have those 6 counties in Ulster Province back in the near future. You sound very much like a US American with your drivel. Perhaps you and Tony Blow are good buddies.

ving listened to Mentor_1 s racist and ignorant rants .. hes not "WGArts " in disguise is he ???????

Seattle is a very livable place. Some extraterrestrials liked it so much, they've docked their spaceship there since 1962.

As for the cloudy days, London and Seattle are near peers. Lower UV exposure means less melanoma. Rent is lower in Seattle, and you can bike to work.

ive only known one person whos been there he said the place has (had ? he was there 20 years ago) a lively music (nite life)scene and he went with a friend to a blues bar and got into conversation with jimi hendrix 's dad

thats a nice mountain in the background too

you are also a citizen of the European Union. You may not want to acknowledge that, but it is a legal fact.
and IF you were to go talk to the people of England MOST would be glad to be rid of the MASSIVE subsidies we pay the other 3 countrys too..
have you ever spoken to the 'people of England'. Well, I know for a fact that you haven't spoken to all, because you haven't spoken to me.
oh and by the way
ireland was given to the Norman king by the Pope about 1350..
There was no 'Norman King' - there was a Duke of Normandy, who was also the king of England, and Ireland was awarded to the Duke of Normandy, which was very much the superior title. it would also be a mistake to think that there was very much going on in terms of the assent of the people of Ireland to this arrangement.
wales was taken by force
indeed
and Scotish kings acctually took hold of the English throne in 1604 not the other way round
well pretty much the other way round, in reality. It's what might be called in modern corporate parlance a 'reverse takeover' - actually fairly typical of the things done by Elizabeth Tudor, probably one of the most brilliant politicians of all time. So the monarch of Scotland having been forced to abdicate in favour of her 13 month old son was beheaded due to 'treason' against a country that wasn't hers, her son was raised to be a protestant and thus eligible for the English succession (his father having been murdered in unexplained circumstance when he was less than a year old), and the two countries remained separate until the act of Union in 1707, when the two countries became a single country, the Kingdom of Great Britain. So, strictly, England is no longer a 'country', it ceased to be in 1707 when it subsumed Scotland.
and as for the republic taking the SIX countys most real Irish I know dont want then cos they know how much troble there would be
You would be the judge of who is 'real Irish' then?

Well now laddie I want you to go to the university of Limerick and explain all this to my son. He is a history and literature prof there and must have it all wrong. I too am well up on the history of the area and also live there part time as well as Salou and Nanaimo. I am a history buff that loves to go to the historic sites we should all read about at some time in our lives. It's my hobby and son's life so perhaps you need to enlighten us all as we seem to have gone astray.

without wanting to get bogged down in anglo/irish politics my origanal argument if you had read it wasnt anything to do with political area ie; european union great Britain/ireland iceland as a political area BUT as to the fact that Great Britain was not a geogaphical part of Europe as Europe is a Continent (from the latin for continuous) and the Geographic area British isles are not a continuous part of the European continental land mass.....but a group of islands off the continent of Europe

Europe is an area! Asia is also an area yet the 2 are connected, Eurasia. What about Russia? It is connected as well. You are confusing physical connection with physical area.
