Is it just me, or is the d7000 over priced?

Thankd doG for the Canon 60D and it's $1100 price - Without it imagine what Nikon would charge for the D7000 ;)

Nikon hasn't, as usual, just met the competition, it has beaten it.

Compared to the 60D, it has better focus, better flash, better metering, wireless remote, time lapse recording, slightly better multiplier [1.5 vs. 1.6], better weather sealing, 100% view finder....

And, given monetary exchange rates, the 60D replacement that competes will be $1400.

At $1200 the D7000 is a great, basic camera that can easily be used as a backup for a D3s as well as standing on its own. I've found that I actually use it with the kit lens for a quick grab and shoot that is easier to carry than my D3 The only thing I wish it had was an articulated screen for video.

True, but remember, the D90 can now be had for about $790 new at B&H, which makes it a better value, unless you need to shoot at ISO1600 and higher continually.

I pushed a friend into a d90 about 5 months ago - I just hope he isn't irritated with me now.

The K-5 buffer is now 20 RAW with the latest firmware update, so now I definitely see the D7000/K-5 as direct competitors in all the main areas of performance.
