That's wildly incorrect information. There are actually three different versions of this lens - you linked to reviews of the first two:

  • Bad version, withdrawn. Never made it into full production.

  • Redesigned version, went into production and received great reviews.

  • New version, with a built-in chip, due out January 2011.

The confusion is not helped by the official names, which are an alphabet soup of letters. But the redesigned and new versions include the letters "UMC" (multi coated); the new version includes the letters "AE" at the start (for automatic exposure):

  • Old: "14 mm f/2.8 IF ED MC Aspherical"

  • Redesigned: "14 mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC"

  • New: "AE 14 mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC"

Although automatic exposure is possible on the (old and) redesigned version if your camera supports it; Samyang's own website is inconsistent with the model names.
