Whatever lenses you finally settle on, the best piece of equipment you can take with you is a bean bag. You can set it on the Land Rover's door jam with the window open and will get far sharper photos than hand holding. You don't need a very expensive bag. There are many on eBay. Choose an H-shaped bag. They usually ship with poly beads in them. Dump them out, fold up the bags and they take no space and weigh only ounces. When you arrive find a grocery store and buy 5-10 pounds of dry beans to fill up the bags. After the safari remove the beans and give them to one of the locals.
