my DIY camera sling / y-strap / blackrapid / etc.
I just got back from 9 days in SF and Yosemite. In that time, I saw the overwhelming majority of SLR users carrying their cameras awkwardly around their shoulders,in their hands, or tucked away into backpacks because (as well all know) ... neck straps are incredibly uncomfortable.
Seeing as I used to be the traveler awkwardly carrying around a DSLR in my hand, I wanted to share my solution to the problem.
Here is my take on the camera sling idea.
I went to a junk yard a few months ago and got a free seatbelt out of an old chevy and made what you see here.
The result is a much more convenient way to carry my (olympus) e-620 + 12-60mm all day. The clip on the strap is attached to a split ring on the left lug of my camera.
If people are interested to make this or need more detail, let me know and I can post a how-to.
