That cat is no macro. It's an image taken with a macro lens, but not a macro image unless the cat is smaller than a mouse...

Yes, LV for manual focus is very useful, on the other hand, if I really want to focus dead on accurate on a spot, I use CDAF. It is faster than MF and is at least as accurate.
