I have an LX5 as my main travel camera, but the CCD overloads with bright lights (car headlights, etc). I am looking for MOS or CMOS backup which I can use in bad lighting environments. Both FX700 and S8100 were candidates, but the FX700 turned out to have automatic video settings, even when the camera was switched to PASM modes...

I need a smallish MOS or CMOS based camera with shutter-preferred (Tv or S) modes for the video... Nothing out there AFAIK...

I think that it is not true. The CMOS has more problems with DR than CCD, the CMOS has narrow DR by technology. But modern CMOS with backlight has maybe the same DR as CCD.
