Camera Dilemma

I am sure this topic has been discussed many times before but I'd thought I'd post to get some pros and cons.

I have been offered a brand new 50D with a 18-200 IS lens. My current camera is a classic 5d (Mk1). I shoot mainly landscape with the odd portrait and wedding. My current lens are a Tamron 28-300, a nifty 50 and a 50mm f2.5 macro.

My dilemma is which one? Now I know the 18-200 with the crop factor sensor will give me roughly what my 28-300 does now on the 5D as well as the Tamron then being a 45-480 equivalent.

Is the image quality on the newer camera as good/not so good or better than the 5D, being my current camera is 3 years older in technology.

I do love the way the 5D can shoot at ISO1600 in low light without much noise but am frustrated sometimes when it hunts to focus. My previous 40D was much better at locking on the target.

Unfortunately however much I would like to keep both, it isnt an option, unless I win the lottery tonight :).

Thanks in advance
