My Fashion and Rock and Roll Life (or at least weekend)
Lots of fun stuff to shoot wi th my D700 here in Raleigh this past weekend as the city hosted the annual SPARKcon festival (which includes artSPARK, fashionSPARK, musicSPARK, circusSPARK and tons more) and had some great live music in clubs and ampitheaters (not that I made it to all these, but it included Lady Gaga, Black Crowes, Tom Petty/ZZ Top, Drivin-n-Cryin, Drive By Truckers and much more).
As part of SPARKcon, I helped organize a new component called photoSPARK this year to showcase the work of local photographers. It was a juried show and I was very fortunate to have both my entries picked and even won an honorable mention. The best part for me was bringing together all these local photographers and talking to one another. I've mainly been shooting for myself and showing to close friends and this was my first big push to get my work really out there (and hopefully get this crazy serious hobby to start at least paying for itself if not more).
I had my camera with me the entire weekend and got great shots of the models at the fashion show, the circus performers, the rock and rollers, and so much more. So fun! And from it, many of the models, designers and rockers have contacted me and want me to do more with them in the future.
Anyway, a few to share, and galleries linked at the end. As always, comments and criitique welcome and encouraged.
