There is a box above the sliders, just slide the luminance until the noise just disappears, no further or you will begin to destry the image. Then slide the color one until you see the speckles of different colors just disappear. These settings could be different for different images. just try it, you'll get the hang of it,and nothing is permanent in LR, you can always change or undo it afterwards.

I also use a 7D and was not having much luck with ACR. Where I do have luck is using LR3. By using the Luminence and Color sliders you eliminate noise the the color in the noise extremely well. Much easier to use than ACR as well.
