Hopscotch Music Festival (Raleigh, NC)
While everyone goes ga-ga over the D7000 announcement and fumes about the lack of a D700 replacement this year, I though I'd post some pics.
This was a really cool 3-day music festival that took over downtown Raleigh, NC. Dozens of bands. 10 clubs and some outdoor stages. I did not jump on things fast enough to get a photo pass, but hopefully can get one for next year. You needed a wristband to get into the clubs at night, and these sold out quickly. I opted to just attend and shoot some of the free "day parties". Really cool to have every music club in town open with a full band lineup during the day.
D700 really handled this nicely. The clubs were VERY dark and I was shooting f/1.4 primes @ ISO 3200 most of the time. Felt sorry for all the shooters with their Rebels with kit lenses and such next to me. Would have been very challenging without fast glass and high ISOs.
Also, this was my first time out with my new Think Tank Belly Dancer and Skin System setup. I really, really like this for carrying around gear for hours on end. My hips bore the weight, not my shoulders, and I was able to access gear easily in the dark. Perfect!

There is another big festival this weekend (SPARKcon) with art and music (and a photography show that I have some landscapes up in). Raleigh is really turning into a cool city. Really looking forward to shooting this one, too.
