7D or 1d4 for running photography.

I've been photographing for 34 years or so and recently began to shoot a lot of triathlon and running, as my daughter has become very successful at both. I've been using a 1ds2 with various lenses (great AF and croppable) or Olympus E3. The problem with the Olympus is that the IQ is not great in poor light and many of these races are in winter.

The problem with the 1ds2 is that it's nearly perfect, but I could do with more than 4 fps.
I've sold a big Contax G2 system and now have money to get either a

7d or with a stretch, a 1d4.

The only thing that would put me off the 7d is that the IQ may not be great in poor light. (The IQ of 1ds2 at 1600 asa is really good).

Anyone have both?
What do you recommend?
