All my images from DP2 look "unsharp" straight out of camera (RAW). However, increasing sharpness to +1 in SPP is usually enough to make all of them look very sharp (unless there is obvious focus problem or motion blur due to slow shutter). I learned from photography books that RAW files are usually slightly unsharp and desaturated, thus I stopped worrying about that and use the sliders to get the results I like.

If you can achieve the desired sharpness by increasing it in SPP to something between +0.5 and +1.0, I would say everything is normal with your shooting technique and with your camera. If you are still not able to achieve the desired sharpness, there might be something wrong I think.
