Hi all,

Im considering buying the f100 as my first digicam. However, I've been browsing all the sample photos I can find, and I just don't like the color! The other cameras I'm looking at (Kodak ls443, canon s40/45, sony cd-400, HP 850) all seem to have much more vibrant colors, the Kodak in particular. Also, the images from the f100 seem soft, especially in comparison to the Canon. Is there an easy way to fix all of this? Does the minolta software help, or maybe photoshop? Any advice would be much appreciated.

You could allways use the Vivid color mode, that would help.

The colors are somewhat cut out and that makes it have a kind of "video" feeling to it, I've seen a lot of these photos around then again there are

some very nice and good, and everyone are talking about the colors so what's the story here.

Could someone with the cam follow this up, I would be really happy, as well as Alsmez I guess, since I'm thinking of getting one from Buydig.com with 128 mb ram, and have it sent to europe.

I find it effective to enhance the color and contrast as well as sharpen every picture in Photo Shop. On the other hand, if the camera is set to vivd and sharpen, the results might be more to your liking.

alsmez,

I don't believe that s40/45 will be sharper than f100 in all scenario.

s40

of course, there is no perfect DC in the world, you have to judge yourself that which one will be more suitable for you.

The most important thing a camera can do is rocord the outside world with as much accuracy and detail as possible. To that end the F100 beats cameras costing hundreds more, even with smallish lens. The colors the f100 produces are some of the most realistic I have seen in a sub $1000 camera. Yes saturated colors are beautiful and and aw inspring on some occasions, but I would rather have a realistic shot, then if I want to tweak the colors to make it look like a post card in photoshop I do. To boil it down the minolta f100 is accurate is all get out. If you want vivid, saturated colors llike the algorithims in some cameras, just use photoshop.
my 2 cents------ Peter

Bart, your pics are great too...I especially like the one of the tree reflected in the pond. I haven't seen any of the digiphoto websites come up with such nice stuff from the f100. Your images look a lot crisper than what I have seen online as well...I found a lot of the test shots to be very soft. Have you done anything to your photos or are they straight from the camera?

Thanks for the compliments. I download my pictures from the camera, resize for the web and load online. I haven't done any color alterations and I don't up the contrast in camera. All my changes in camera would be the shutter, aperature and white balance.

Regards,
Stephen
Thanks!
