Wont the new 24-120 overshadow the 24-70??

Hi there

I recently bought the 24-70 f2.8 due to reading so many amazing comments on here, but I must admit that I feel a little strange now hearing that a 24-120 f4 is being released very soon. From what I have read here, this 24-120 f4 lens is also going to be the same quality (Nano coating etc) and aimed at the same type of target photographer as the 24-70. Is this new lens going to kind of make the 24-70 somewhat overshadowed and redundant?

Personally, I use the lens at a minimum of f18 so the wide aperture capability doesnt interest me too much, but the extra zoom (if the optical quality is going to be very similar to the 24-70) would be useful. Is it right to assume that the longer the zoom range, the more sacrifice in optical quality (pin cushion/ barrel distortion etc)?

Would love to hear your thoughts
