Bjorn Rosslett -> "It ranks among the finest lenses I have tested"

"Often, VR has questionable virtues and confers unpredictable side effects. Even when you never use the feature, the VR group(s) are present and complicate the optical design. I rather follow Nikon in their quest for improving the already proven 85/1.4 by optical means alone. In this endeavour they have succeeded to a remarkable extent. ED as such is no panacea and whether it is useful must be balanced against other design criteria. No need for ED glass in a lens that behaves so well as the new AFS 85.

It ranks among the finest lenses I have tested."
