I don't know if it's been discussed, I just found it a bit odd that the lens doesn't come with VR given that it's a short tele. OKAY, maybe the f1.4 allows high enough shutter speed.
Odd? I would have been very surprised if it had come with VR. Does the Canon 85mm f/1.2 have IS? Stabilization is simply not all that useful on relatively short focal length prime lenses. You don't even see it on the short, pro level (f/2.8) zooms. It is more useful on the long telephoto lenses (200mm and up). And of course, the consumer level zooms with their small apertures (f/4.0-5.6).
