Adding keywords, while I am shooting, on-the-fly?

Hello, I am a professional photographer. I have
already a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and a Canon EOS 5D mark II with various lenses.

I need now system to help me automatically or semi-automatically to add, during my photo reportage and massive capture images on-the-spot, to add some basic annotation/keywords to each single image, in order to reduce the post-processing keywording, which is indeed a very huge waste
of time and money!

I came today across the Canon EOS 7D Bar Code Body/Transmitter WFT-E5 a Kit and I was wondering is someone can offer me a solution to match my need, either with this camera body or
elsewhere-.

So I am contacting you because I will also need an application (either a software or hardware) to help me to create on the spot, while I am shooting my photo reportage, couple of specific keywords for each given image. I was wondering if you are aware of any solution commercially available (and NOT sure that using a bar code approach is the proper way.....)?

I hope I have made myself clear. Again I need a system to:

1. point and shoot first

2. than record automatically or semi-automatically some info about each specific image

3. save it into the exif file for ultimate harvesting, improvement, later on (post processing).

Waiting for your kind feedback.
Puffo.

I would think posting your questions in the appropriate Canon forum or the Pro Digital Talk forum would likely be more productive.

I wonder if a GPS device might provide a workaround solution. Here are the key features that might help.

1. GPS devices allow you to create a 'waypoint' from wherever you're shooting. You can enter a description of that waypoint. That description could be your keywords.

2. Free software can match the time a photo was taken to the time and location recorded on the GPS device, and then automatically load those location coordinates into your photo file.

I'm not sure how you'd then get the waypoint keyword information in #1 linked to the time and location information embedded in #2.

Perhaps someone who knows more about geo-tagging photos can offer a solution for that final link?

I dont know of a system that exactly fits your needs but here are some ideas ..

1) Use an iPod or iPad to keep notes as you take each picture. Then Transfer them to the computer you will process the pictures on.

2) Use a voice recorder in similar way

3) Use LightRoom tethering to fire your camera from a palm-top PC ... and then enter the keyword directly into light room.

4) Same as 4 but use Canon DPP that came with your camera.
