Exactly, as long as you take pictures that are not overexposed by dozens of magnitudes (eg, taking a 10 minute exposure of the sun at f/2.8), the sensor can handle it easily.

LV or video on the other hand is a challenge for some sensors (and one reason why the large-sensor CCD cameras like the Leicas or MF do not have LV).
