FZ100: An Objective View on Image Quality Please

I Have two questions:

1/ Everyone seems to be slating the image quality of sample prints.

I am not sure who the camare is aimed at, but do you think the average shooter, who only looks at his pics on a PC screen, or prints them out at 10 x 8 max, would really be in any way unhappy with the quality.

I used to use an FZ5, & have always been pretty content with the results.

2/ Is it not possible that the various issues described on this forum, could be corrected or at least improved by adjusting the in camera settings:

Contrast ±2steps / Sharpness ±2steps / Saturation ±2steps / Noise Reduction ±2steps / (can be adjusted in Film Mode)

Honest, unbiased comments will be grately appreciated.
