Are camcorders obsolete?

I should say... "are low end and mid range camcorders obsolete?"

Almost every still camera sold today has video ability.

And virtually all the new models have HD video. Some of them are very good, and this is just a feature that is tacked on adding very little cost to the camera.

This means there should be no market for anything less than a high end camcorder for committed video fans. Serious videographers will always want the best performance and best feature set, and be willing to pay for it, but would anyone else buy a $350 camcorder when any $350 still camera can perform just as well?
