Does anyone still use the canon 28-135mm?

I bought one as a Disposable Cheap Lens. Love IT!

I read some of your post about Sigma 17-70mm OS is it worth $450.

I'm going to say IT IS. $500 is the average price for any new lens. Sigma is actually on the cheap side. Let see:
I paid $480 for my Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 when it came out
I paid $380 for a Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 Macro (used)
I pad $1100 for my Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM
I paid $200 for my Canon 28-135mm IS USM

Mine $1100 Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM is the best, but it doesn't go "WOW, MAGIC". To an average consumer, 17-55mm f/2.8 is no better than your 18-55mm IS kit lens.

I think your Sigma 17-70mm OS is fairly priced, your can also go for a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 VC but that will set you back another $200 more.

I bought a used Canon 28-135mm IS as my Fun Disposable lens for club and dangerous environment (rain, beaches, sandstorm) when I don't want to risk my lovely canon 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM.

$200 - $260 used on ebay. Its the only USM lens you can buy with IS for under $300, so I highly recommended

i am quite interested in this lens for some reason.. iunno if its the built quality or the reasonable semi all purpose range... (i say semi) .. but i have been reading reviews on it and "Lens Tip" gave it really good results.. perhaps better than the 17-85..

im just wondering if people still use this or pass it up... i think the overall reliable performance that has been reviewed and the nice body built has really drawn me in... and about $230 bucks less than a 18-55 with longer reach (which i am looking for.. trying to find a nice all purpose lens.. only canon lens too)

Lens tip and photozone give a pretty overall rating.. how about you guys?
