If you shoot in Dynamic B&W I think you will find the colour temperature of the raw colour image is way off. Panasonic does at least some of the initial conversion on the raw file. I'm going by memory of what has been mentioned on the forum as I don't have the LX3. I think they also played with NR and distortion correction on the raw file on the LX2 and perhaps the LX3. The LX1 had a normal raw file.

nothing extraordinary is happening w/ the raw file - just Panasonic writes fake WB when you shoot B/W

I would call it rather extraordinary that on Dynamic B&W the color channel multiplier for blue channel is 1.00000 just like the Green channel. Any other WB setting ranging from the possible 2500 to 10000 K gives Blue channel different multiplier, as you can see on the chart and diagramm I presented here on 7th November last year:

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1033&message=33625537

but if you will use something like rawtherapee or anything based on dcraw you will see uncorrected image - that was discussed here and there thousand times before.

This evening I repeated this test set shooting a still life with following three settings, from left to right: 10000K, 2600K (light source single 60W household tungsten lightbulb) and Dynamic B&W, on top OOC jpgs, on bottom linear tiffs developed with dcraw... :

...with following command options and prompts of the multipliers as seen on the screen print:
