Re: Which 70-200?

Right, further thoughts on the subject. As has been discussed, I am not intending to use a very narrow DOF - this just isn't my thing, and if/when I do, I have suitable primes for this purpose (85/1.8 and 135/2). The 70-200 is for a specific purpose, which is some longer informal shots where I think i'm going to struggle with primes due to lack of control over the shooting situation.

Having hefted them all, and ummed and ahhed, I think the 70-200 F4 IS is the right option. The IS will be of help as i'll shoot without a tripod.

This will give me the following lens lineup:

Primes - 35/2, 50/1.4, 85/1.8, 135/2
Zooms - 17-40 F4, Tamron 28-75 2.8, 70-200 F4 IS

Bodies are a 1Ds II and a 1D II, so the 70-200 will make a nice 100-300 or so on the 1D II.

I chose the Tamron over the canon 2.8 standard zoom because of the bulk, so this seems to be a bit of a theme with me!

Thanks everyone for your help.
