Attention Jezsik (who appears to be unreachable directly, so I hope this does reach you):

My entry ("Unto the next generation..") has been disqualified on the grounds that "the rules state that THIS CHALLENGE IS OPEN ONLY TO THOSE WHO HAVE PLACED AT LEAST 2000 VOTES."

I'll admit that I did not understand what that meant when I first read it (and still do not). I took it to mean that entrants should have received that many votes in prior challenges, but apparently that's not so. (I've entered eight or nine challenges, and my most recent entry received more than 3,000 votes.) Does it mean that I would have had to have voted 2000 times myself? Seems unlikely.

I apologize if I entered a challenge in which I do not belong. That wasn't my intention. But I would most appreciate an explanation (from the host or anyone else who comprehends this matter) of the rule that has barred me.

With thanks for your feedback, and regrets that my picture cannot be part of this nice group.

lol it's obvious you have no clue what you're talking about :)

You've received 3,000 votes in 9 challenges? There's no way you did nor to count it. 3,000 is your score for the entry not the number of votes you received. I have no time to explain this but you are wrong. Check your overview.

Indeed, I do not know what I'm talking about, which is why I asked. And, your rudeness notwithstanding, I appreciate your directing me to the Overview, where I saw for the first time the "Votes placed" category. I take it that this does represent the number of times I've voted, and it's certainly a bit short of 2000.

Again, my apologies to the challenge host for having entered inappropriately.

Hmmmmm. Yes.

You need to have voted (placed votes) in other challenges 2000 times, that is voted on 2000 images. I see your profile indicates you have placed 31 votes so far, so you have a bit of voting to do. Vote on every image in a challenge and it'll soon build up. Get cracking !

Ok i'm sorry if i was rude, i overreacted and didn't mean to. When i saw you have an account here since 2004 i thought you were rather whining here for being disqualified than being serious. Well now you know. Good luck in the future :)

As pointed out, to qualify for this challenge, you must have been an active participant on the voting side of the challenges. The idea is to give those who vote a chance to compete against each other. It discourages those who enter challenges without ever voting (or encourages them to have a look at the challenges and rank the images).
I apologize if I entered a challenge in which I do not belong.
No worries. You're in good company. More than half the total entrants had less than 2000 votes (most having placed less than a hundred votes).
With thanks for your feedback, and regrets that my picture cannot be part of this nice group.
There will be other challenges, but you might want to start voting in some of them now. Who knows, you might enjoy it!

Thanks for your gracious reply. It's only relatively recently that I began entering challenges, and I'd not encountered a requirement like this before, so I didn't get it. I do now. And I'll take seriously your challenge that I start voting in challenges (although I don't think I'll reach 2000 in time for your Friday deadline).

Wow . I bet a lot of other entrants are getting away with all sorts of stuff. Shame on our society really. Vic
