According to DxOmark, the D3x should, with equal processing, be one stop better in the high ISO shadows (less difference in the highlights). But the D3x isn't optimised for high ISO, the D3/D700 improves a bit on that and then the D3s amazingly adds yet another stop of high ISO shadow performance (all given a fixed print size).

Good point on stabilised primes, though, and I expect subjects don't move much during ceremonies.
