I guess my problem is that I am seldom wandering around with a tripod with a specific photographic mission in mind. More I am just browsing my better images (not many of them ) and thinking what sort of treatment will improve them.
There was no filter in the PP. Just reduced the brightness a little. The rest of the effect came from the HDR treatment. I tried most of the different types of algorithms until I found one that was not too unrealistic. the post was actually leaning a little already (probably pushed out by the tree roots).
