Tokina 11-16 - my mini-review inc. photos

I've been lucky enough to find a Sony mount Tokina 11-16 and thought I'd share some information for those looking at getting this lens.

I've been looking for something to replace my Sigma 10-20mm - my problem with the lens was the f4-5.6 which wasn't very useful for the low light work I do. I really liked the ultra wide view but didn't want a fisheye. This seemed like the perfect choice.

First up some size comparisons with a Minolta 50mm and the Zeiss 24-70. Its smaller and lighter than the Zeiss zoom but is still very well built. Its very similar in size to the Tamron 17-50.

These two images show the limited 11-16mm range and what you get wide open at f2.8.

I've only had one opportunity to use it in low light and didn't get any particualrly impressive samples. This one though gives you an idea of the view you'll get at 11mm in low light: (In-camera DR+ is great!)
