White spot on new DPR background - disturbing?

Anyone else notice this - when you click on a topic, before it draws the new page you momentarily see the plain grey background, and this appears to have a large diffuse white spot in the upper left area.

At first I thought it was something wrong with my monitor but it appears on both the monitors in my 2 screen setup. It attracts my eye every time it appears, even though I now know to expect it, and I find this slightly disturbing.

I'd rather not be seeing the background at all, but if I do I would rather it is completely uniform so as not to attract/distract my attention.

Apart from that I'm generally positive, though tend to feel the information I'm interested in is constrained into too narrow an area.
