Why don't you just step back a bit for a crop body? compared to a FF.

This is the been there done that reply.

What you're asking is can I back up until the field of view is the same and isn't that the same shot. The answer slews with the focal lenght of the lens. Telephoto is all good but as you cross into normal and go to wide the perspective is altered and therefore the composition of image.

A 7D is a great back-up for my 5D MKII in normal to tele work but it excels a high speed sports. Once the subject is being posed it's a back-up I hope I never have to use.
