Nikon says: D5000 images "more natural and realistic" than D90

I'm not too surprised given that independent tests have shown better image quality from the D5000 over the D90 even in areas like high ISO.

IMO, the D5000 is a peculiar beast. While marketed as entry level, it has some unique enthusiast features over the D90 like rangefinder focus mode for manual lenses and arguably the quietest shutter ever made for a SLR.
