Why don't you just step back a bit for a crop body? compared to a FF.

What if you need more than equiv. 24mm but need f2.8? Can't get that with crop. As far as the VF, the 7D has a bigger, brighter VF than the 5D, and neither influences the image quality of either camera.

I believe that Tokina makes an 11-16mm F2.8 lens. Regarding, the view finder, yes it does not directly influences a great image quality but it helps you to achieve it. Most of the cropped bodies have a smaller view finder. The 7d is one heck of an exception. But it should be that way if it wants to title itself as the king of the APS-C world.

You are correct, I was unaware of the Tokina lens. I pointed out the 7D in order to counter the sweeping statement that crops had smaller, dimmer VFs than FF. All in the interests of fairness, y'know. I'm a firm FF proponent, myself, but not knee-jerkingly averse to a crop sensor, either.
