I found some really good deals on lenses, but am scared to buy used Id hate to spend 1400$ and end up with something that breaks 2 months down the road. Anybody purchased used lenses from them??

They are one of the most reputable companies in the bussiness. I would trust what they say about their used gear.......

Again though its a used lens so............................

I bought a used 20D from them right after the 30D came out. The camera itself was in fantastic condition. Just as described, and basically brand new.

Reading the manual, I noticed that the kit was missing a cable (the USB one, maybe? I don't remember. It certainly wasn't a "necessary" accessory) and it was missing the Photoshop Elements CD. I called them. They apologized and shipped out the two missing parts at no cost to me. In fact, I think they even overnight'ed them.

Excellent experience. I would buy used from them again in a heartbeat.

Hello IMHO, it depends on how much money you are saving on the prouduct you are savingbuy buying used, and of course, remember the shortened warranty, ie perhaps 6months compared to a full year. Sometimes it IS worth it to save a little while longer to buy new.

i have bought a refurbished tamron 17-50 f2.8 and a canon 300mm f4 used like new from adorama and have no regrets at all. but it is at least a small gamble. if i were to buy another used lens and have to pay for a repair out of pocket, it might easily cost everything i saved off of new prices. if you are willing to accept that gamble. i consider B&H completely trustworthy as i do adorama.

i am beginning to suspect that those who say i have snapped are not referring to my photography.

My take on used lenses is that they are so close to new price, why bother. I can buy them on ebay from a reputable seller like Adorama and get the 8% cashback along with a new lens with full warranty. I've also noticed that new Canon lenses made recently seem to be better than those that are 5 years or more old. I'm thinking that Canon has improved their tooling and test processes, because new lenses do seem sharper on the average. Of course, there are still people who get bad ones, but you can bet that sellers of used lenses do not test them for sharpness, just for obvious defects.

I have purchased three used lenses from B&H. One was factory refurbished. No problems; all worked perfectly. B&H has excellent customer service and I know there would be no question if I had to return an item.

I haven't bought any used lenses from them but I have bought used lenses from other sources that I trust less. B+H has often demonstrated themselves to be a consumer friendly organization with many satisfied and loyal customers.

Yes. First dealt with them more 15 years ago. Have bought used from B&H, have bought new from them and have sold used to them. Nothing other than a straight forward and positive experience each time, so much so it's the first place I automatically turn to, going elsewhere only when they don't have the product I want (rare).

Thank you and everyone else here who took the time to comment.
