You will love the 14-54mm II lens. I promise you.

It is fast, sharp, and not too heavy. It's well built and weather sealed.

And 3.8X zoom may not be as versatile as the 5X zoom on the 12-60mm, but you save a lot in cost, size and weight.

This is one of the finest lenses Olympus makes.

Right now the best prices are:

Amazon is selling it for....................... $499
B&H is seling it for..............................$479
Buydig and Beach Camera have it for....$479
Cameta has "factory demos" for...........$449

Olympus E-30
Zuiko 9-18mm
Zuiko 14-54mm II
Zuiko 40-150mm I
Zuiko 70-300mm
Zuiko 50mm f/2.0 macro

Thanks for the leads, Marty. Weight and balance are important to me and the 14-54 MII simply fits better on the E-620 than the 12-60 IMOP. B&H had one factory refurbished to original specifications for $410 a week or so ago. Thoughts on buying one of these should it come up again welcomed.

I've also seen Mk 1's as low as $300 and read they're very close to the MkII in IQ other than bokeh and no CDAF capability. While I'd of course prefer the MkII, thoughts on going this route also welcomed. Have to save money for the wedding somehow ;)!
