24mm f/1.4 vs 24-70mm f/2.8 - I tried the new 24mm in Seattle today

My test shots were very subjective. I deleted them, because they were shots from within the store, and nothing to write home about. However, I just wanted to comment on the lens.

It's nice... However, it wasn't night and day at f/2.8. In order to afford that lens, I would have to sell my 24-70mm f/2.8 and sell my 20mm f/2.8D.

If it would have been an amazing difference, I was prepared to do that. The difference was subtle, not amazing.

I also own the 50mm f/1.4G lens. On that lens, there is a noticeable difference in quality between that lens and the 24-70. There is less vignetting, distortion, etc. with the 50mm than the 24-70mm.

Other than the larger aperture, and weight of the lens, I didn't feel it was worth the upgrade. If I needed the 1.4 speed, then of course I would get it, but I just couldn't part with my 24-70mm.
