Buy a second body? Not sure if you have looked at some of the new mirrorless systems or not. They are much more compact than any SLR.

Yes I have but somehow I haven't been convinced so far. They lack true wide angles, portrait lenses. For the moment their versatility seems a bit illusional.

What about the Olympus 9-18 or Panasonic 7-14? The Olympus is equivalent to the Pentax 12-24, and the 7-14 is actually wider than the Sigma 10-20 on APS-C.

I agree, they do have wide angles. The Panasonic 7-14mm f/4 ($1000 US) is equivalent to a full frame 14-28mm, and the Olympus 9-18mm f/4-5.6 ($600) is equivalent to an 18-36mm, two popular wide angle lenses, and both are for micro 4/3rds, not 4/3rds. There is an Olympus 7-14mm f/4 for regular 4/3rds but it is $1800.

However, the 4/3rds system has a two f/stop disadvantage to full frame, so those are equivalent to a 14-28mm f/8 (and remember it is $1000) and 18-36mm f/8-f/11 lenses for full frame. Now think about DOF, etc, and the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 is pretty appealing in comparison.

Also, both those lenses likely use heavy distortion correction in the camera body to get a decent undistorted image out (assuming they are similar to other 4/3rds lenses which do the same). This will hurt corner performance and field of view a bit.

My point is, if going for the best wide angles, I would get full frame.

I agree, though, that portrait lenses are a bit lacking. They really need a very fast 30-ish prime, it has to be really fast to counter the DOF disadvantage of the micro 4/3 format.
