You didn't say what ISO was used in this shot, Michael. Sony has said the improvement in NR in IDC 3.2 was for ISO800 and above shots. Personally, I would not consider your original shot to need any NR, and very little - if any - sharpening. To quote the old engineer's creed: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Sharpening a noisy image is always going to accentuate the noise, and I'm not sure running NR from one program on an image already processed through the NR routine of another achieves anything. In fact, it may worsen the situation (as you seem to have proven).
