Switching to Canon: A Big Thank You
Before the weekend I posted here asking for some advice on the 5D II. I wanted to move to FF and had been using Nikons. At a UK Outdoor Show this weekend I bought a 5D II kit for a special price that I reckoned I couldn't get anywhere else.
I've fleetingly used the 5D II at a friends 65 the birthday and out in Soho yesterday. First results are impressive. Some points for others considering such a move:
While the Canon doesn't handle as well as the Nikons it is not half bad! I took some party shots as my first shots and while I can confused a little by the end of the evening I'd sussed everything out very well.
The 'kit lens' 24-110 is superb for a kit lens. Nice and sharp.
Auto Focus: I've found this works pretty well and quite intuitively. I'm not someone that does a lot of action photography so I don't worry about this. For close ups the single point focus option is very reliable and delivers pin sharp images.
Needless to say the pictures — quality and resolution — are also very good.
Thanks for your advice folks.
