Two Takes on the Manhattan Bridge (Panos)

That is so cool. The first looks like it could have been taken 100 years ago. The second is beautiful - I presume that's the Empire State bldg under the arch.

Hi Dez... very nice panos. I like #1 the best. I like the perspective, the b/w treatment and I think this one reflects pretty much what you saw. Very good alignment and stitching.

Hey Dez,

I love the first one but it's a difficult choice between the B&W and the color one... they are both great!

Here is my take from last summer... I love the empire state building framed under the Manhattan Bridge!!!

We really need to get together and do some serious photography in NYC soon!!!

I like the first one the best, but I'd like to see less distractions and a more B&W image.
It could be my monitor though.

Those things don't bother me but thanks for bringing them out. Perhaps with that new tool, Content-Aware Fill in the next CS5, removing those would be a breeze :D

Thanks for the suggestion Mr. S

your site for a while, was good to visit. Still like the clouds in the B&W. Would love to see a storm over NYC with some real drama in B&W...not that I am wishing anyone any more bad weather :)
. I will go back to our site and have a proper surf.
Cheers,
Tom

Hi Dez. I haven't been on this forum for a while so didn't notice your Panos. Why didn't you post them on the Panorama thread? Anyhow, I really like the first one and am wondering why the bridge got the bow in it when the single frame doesn't display that to the same degree. I think I would try to rework it with different software. I have found that when PTgui gives me something like this, I then try PS4 and Microsoft Ice and usually get it better. For me the bow ruins it. I shoot most of mine using portrait mode which may help. Dave

Alot of people have been raving about ICE. I think I'll give that software a go and try it out. The bow, sometimes I dislike it and sometimes I like it. In this case, it gives that bridge a dramatic look.

BTW, the above panos were in portrait or vertical mode as well. Check the OP.

In this smaller pano (no distortion), I took it in 2006 with the D80:
