How hard is it to guess exposure? Is it easy enough to learn?

depends on your skill level. if you're the kind of person that does a lot of things in manual anyways, and frequently checks histograms, it won't be a real problem. and if you don't really need a light meter because you just KNOW the exposure, it helps.

but in practice, it becomes tedious with frequent real-world usage in some situations. set up in a studio under consistent lighting, it's not an issue. shooting out on the street? maybe, maybe not. i love my MF primes, but even on my d200 (which does meter) they're still not for everything.
