Just got a Pentax Asahi Takumar 50mm 1.4 SMC! Awesome lens!

Just purchased my first manual lens. Paid $100 CDN for it. Probably could've got it for less but it is in MINT condition! Came with both original front and rear lens caps. Doesn't even have any dust inside. Cosmetically and optically it looks brand new. Amazing considering this lens is about 40 years old!

Optically, it is awesome! I purchased a $13 M42 to EOS adapter with AF confirmation chip. The AF confirm was front focusing. Thanks to the MA on the 7D, I was able to correct the front focusing.

The lens is VERY sharp in the center at 1.4. At 2.8 it is just as sharp as my Canon 17-55mm 2.8 IS.

And the built quality is stellar. All metal body. As good as any Canon L lens.

The Bokeh is beautiful.

I love this lens!

Just a few issues though that I hope some person with more knowledge can help me answer:

1) at infinity focus, the aperture ring is stuck at 1.4. I cannot turn it.

2) Also, at any aperture other than 1.4, the metering is always overexposed.

I have a feeling the problem is because the inner element protrudes too much into the camera at infinity focus?
