1DSII User with Medium Format envy...

As a long-time Canon user and current owner of a 1DSII and a 7D, I have to say that I am still intrigued by medium format digital. The announcement of the new Mamiya has me excited:

True 16 bit files, 12 stop dynamic range, 40 MP sensor, including camera body and a standard leaf shutter lens for roughly $22k. No doubt this is still a lot of money but a medium format set-up comparable to this even two years ago would have cost close to $40k. I look forward to seeing rigs like this in the used market say in three years time when I could realistically get a used system like this in the $10-$13k range.

I understand that these medium format cameras cannot compete for low light photography but we always have our Canon (or Nikon if you prefer) DSLR's for that type of work. For pure image quality in decent light there is no substitute for the rich files you get out of these new medium format backs.
