-I downloaded Phil´s new images and upsampled the ristwatch in PS7 by 110% steps until 7831x5217 pixels or 26x17 inches at 300dpi. The size is 116,9Mb!

Now I don´t know anything about the lens or postprocessing but it sure looks pretty good to me.
Try it yourself!

Cheers

The amazing thing is that we are looking at pre-production, first generation technology. It can only get better. There has never been a camera technology made that doesn't have some flaws or compromises. However for 3.5 megapixel and first generation, the quality here is nothing short of phenomenal. I am impressed.

I upsampled to over 500Mb and it too looked great! Whether it be Foveon or 11-14Mp CMOS, film is on life support.... it's not dead, but sooner than we think someone is gunna pull the plug.

These "straight from the camera-no processing" images are so stunning that a 6-9mp full size foveon chip with a Canon or Nikon lens sysytem would be enough for most professionals for commercial studio or wedding jobs.

I am really amazed! I ordered the new 1Ds but now I think I'll wait and see what´s going to happen in the near future.

But just remember that it is NOT 3.5mps .... it is 3.5 X 3 = 10.5mps ... that is the equivalent of a 3.5 X 4 Bayer .... = 14mps.

Furthermore ... the RGB is STACKED instead of Side-by-Side to eliminate color-morie when thin lines/dots cover a single color pixel.

So this is NOT SURPRISING to some of us that always realized that the 3.5 was just a "different' , (and NEW and MORE HONEST), way to rate the sensors.

I have printed 4 12x18 images from the test shots on the web and they look stunning. It will probably outprint a 6mp.
