Ruggedness (or lack thereof) of LX3?

Hi all,

I'm in the market for a new compact camera and the LX3 with its' wide, fast lens and potential for creative control looks really tempting.

I've read a lot of favourable reviews and admired many of the fine photos posted here and other places. The only thing that is holding me back is that I might not dare take it outdoors :).

I do a bit of mountainbiking and like to bring my camera but sometimes it gets both cold, humid and bumpy.

I understand it's not water or shock proof but how would you, experienced owners, rate its' ruggedness?

As a comparison I have abused my old Ricoh GX since 2005 and it still works flawlessly

Any first hand experience or other input on the matter is greatly appreciated
TIA and cheers
Johan

P.S. I am also looking at the Canon S90 which has a little longer reach and seems a little bit more pocketable (but lacks the 24 mm wide and HD video)
