Did the D3S go too far the wrong way?

Just saw this: http://www.dpreview.com/news/1002/10022304nikonbalance.asp

"In the D3S, Nikon placed top priority on high ISO performance... but there will be a 'better balance' in future cameras"

Sounds about as clear as outright admission of a mistake? If so why is the D3S sold out and for me at least I can't wait to find a used one. Maybe it'll be a classic as the D4 might follow canon with more pixels but no much better than D3 low light?

That would be sad for me at least
