My good old plain K100D is still kicking happily. It has about 17000 shutter activation on it.

It is mostly used to photograph my granddaughter, Sofia, these days. Nowadays she runs around and sometimes I feel K100D is slow to focus, but then I say to myself, hey, K100D is still a great camera and capable of producing nice clean images. No need to upgrade as long as it is working.

Here is a picture of her when she stood still near the window for a fraction of second.

My K100D Super has about 27,500 activations, and I have absolutely no plans to get rid of it! It has been a faithful servant for over two years now, and I'm hoping it will do a few more yet!

My K100D Super passed 30,000 this weekend. you should have lots of shots left on your camera. I replaced my DL at 18,500.

That's my only real complaint with the camera. Low light AF is better than the DL, but still struggles in low light.

Lovely shot.

Congratulations! beautiful girl and beautiful photo.
Mine also rocks. In fact, i am in love with it. it is a go anywhere tool.

Here is one I took in a David Liebman concert with the Rimon jazz school. RAW, 93mm, f/4, iso 3200 (not reflected in Exif for some reason), Sigma 70-300. Colours are not well balanced here but I didn't bother to fix it, or even use a better converter in this case (Picassa's colours are not good).

3 months ago I replaced my trusty K100DS with a K-x. Main reasons were better high iso capabilities and faster AF. At these 2 points the K-x definitely delivers great results. So the K-x really shines when chasing around my kids in a dimly lit house this winter.

But: The times I went outside to take pictures in well lit area's I'm not so sure anymore if I did the right thing. Unfortunately I sold My K100DS to fund my new purchase, so no direct comparisons.

The pictures I took with the K100DS have a magic color rendering and some 'fairy dust' on them wich I really love. it's hard to describe what it really is, but sometimes I just miss my old camera. I also prefer the look and feel of the K100 body over the K-x.

Most pictures taken with my K100 were outside, sunny days in springtime and summer, my K-x only went outside in wintertime. So let's hope that's it.

See my gallery for some of my personal favorites, lot's of them are taken with my K100DS. The First year and a half my Sigma 17-70 has not left the body, It's a perfect combo with the K100D. Last Year I started buying lenses of ebay and LBA struck in hard....

So the bottom line is: Let the springtime begin, and I really hope my K-x shines as bright as my K100D did for all those years.

First 3 pictures all taken with the Sigma 17-70, the last one with the FA 50 (the first prime I ever bought and the start of severe LBA)

Your 2 last one are superb. Last one in particular screams Pentax Colours.

I second that. Colours are faithful to actual scene. This camera does not try to please some imaginary customer as perceived by a clueless marketing director. Looks like this camera's rendering was designed by a photographer, or an artist. Colour gamut is very nice and the weak anti-aliasing allows pleaty of creative freedom in PP. The combination of a CCD and good high iso performance is just one part of the story.

Spring and summer could wake your k-x and reveal its real potential.

I've had 2 DSLRs and both the K100D
Still happy :)

K100D some Len

Have just discovered my K100D "classic" has gone past 42000! Used in the lab and takes quite a few junk photos though. Have noticed the flash makes a burning smell if used repeatedly. Dates from early 2006.

Good for you, I'm envious! I just found out my K100D is mortally wounded. My sensor is producing bad images more and more frequently (colored lines, black images, etc) with occasional problem free ones.

They want 12,000 baht (about 400 bucks) to ship it from here (Bangkok) to Japan for repair.

Maybe time to get a K-X, I wish I could get it without the kit lens! Already got one of those, and its replacement (Sigma 17-70).
