is the same exposure (eg f4.0 at 1/60) brighter on full frame than aps-c ?

If you set up :

  • Full frame camera e.g 5Dmk2

  • aps-c camera e.g 7D

  • 1/1.7" camera e.g G9

and took a shot at the same settings e.g

f4.0 1/60sec iso100

would the full frame gather more light and produce a brighter image (histogram farther right) given its larger collecting area?

It seems by the numbers the full frame should collect twice as much light? Is this true in reality?

5dmk2 = Full frame area = 864mm / 21mp = 41.14mm per megapixel
7D = Aps-c area = 329mm / 18mp = 18.27mm per megapixel
G9 = 1/1/7" area = 43mm / 12mp = 3.58mm per megapixel
