Is F/1.4 really THAT useful on a 24mm?

I see a lot of raving about the new 24mm F1.4
I'd like to post an alternate point of view on this kind of lense:

Is a 24mm F/1.4 really that useful? I mean, with new fx bodies capable of delivering superb quality even at very high ISO why would someone need something as bright as F1.4 on a 24mm wide-angle , a focal lenght that you can easily handhold at 1/20 or 1/15 and get blur-free images?

Wouldn't a 24mm F2 have served the same practical purpose while probably costing nearly half, and being also considerably less bulky?

What I mean (please take it as my humble opinion) is that these "supermacho" lenses like this 24mm F1.4 are more a tool for marketing show-off (hey look, we can make a ultrasonic motor 24mm 1.4 too like Canon!) than a real world necessity.

I myself would have been happier with a 24mm F2 because it would have costed much less, it would have been less bulky, and it would have allowed me to do exactly the same things as a 24mm F1.4

Just my thoughts, anyway.
