Best ZS3 setup for ice skating and rowing photos

I am going to take some photos of my daughter at a figure skating competition and I'm not sure what would be the best settings. I am thinking flash off, high speed focus (the square with the "H"), ISOMax800 and no IS. Any other thoughts/recommendations. is there some continual focus option? movement is fairly quick with lots of panning, and it needs a decent shutter speed to freeze the motion without blue (maybe 1/60).

I also need to take some outdoor rowing (crew) photos this spring. These will all be shot at maximum zoom. Not really sure where to start here (I believe I want the shutter speed to be around 1/200 to catch water droplets, and with all the panning I assume IS is out).

Thanks in advance for any advice.
