Returning KX

I recently upgraded to the KX from a Canon 1000D. Unfortunately I've discovered that my Pentax has the shake reduction/mirror slap problem - motion blur and softness on photos taken around the 1/100 shutter speed. I'm afraid I'm also disappointed by the autofocus speed in low light compared to my Canon (there are other things I like about the Pentax of course so it's not all bad). I'd like to return the camera, to exchange it either for another KX or more likely a 500D. Does anyone know what the UK policy is on returning things like cameras? Are Pentax accepting this as a design fault? I bought it in person from Spectrum Cameras on Tottenham Court Road in London, about a week ago. I'm kind of wishing I'd bought online now as I'd be able to return it as part of distance selling legislation.
